I was on the hunt for a good bingsoo place in sf! It was great that this place also serves food like Japanese curry! I really enjoyed the croquette curry and I'm glad they had that as an option since I don't eat meat. The portion size was really good and I was able to finish the whole plate of curry. I shared the bingsoo with my friend and we finished it all. The mangoes were so delicious and the sticky rice was warm and added the perfect touch to the bingsoo. This was my first time trying bingsoo as well and it was such a great experience for me. They have so many food options here, so I will definitely come back in the future to try more. The employees were very nice as well! We rung the bell and we were seated immediately. They were so kind and patient with us! I'm so glad that this was the place where I had my first bingsoo!
tldr solid thai based dessert spot serving up some creative asian flare desserts, savory foods, and drinks mango tango (4/5) friend and i ordered a shared mango tango! just like the classic thai mango and sticky rice except it also came with milky coconut bingsu/shaved ice! it was really tasty - only critique is the mango would just be easier to eat if it was pre cut instead of on the skin and sticky rice was lacking coconut milk service was friendly with water+cups already available at each table. the ambiance is perfect for a date or small groups. it gets really busy on the weekends so suggest going there early since they don't have reservations overall a really solid asian inspired dessert and i come to both this location and inner richmond when i am craving a sweet treat! food (4/5) service (4/5) ambiance (4.5/5) value (4/5)
NaYa Dessert Cafe - one of the best spots for Asian desserts in the City including: bingsu, toast and more! With two locations, I have visited both and Hayes Valley is my preferred location for presentation and vibes. I went mid-week after dinner around the corner and my friend and I were on the waitlist for under 5 minutes before quickly getting seated with a pitcher of water and cups. Staff was friendly like always but busy during the holiday week so it took a while before we could flag them down for a menu. We ordered the Salted Egg Bingsu (new to their menu) to share and arrived under 10 minutes. We liked that the salted egg was in a separate bowl to self pour. Bingsu was creamy and milky flavored. Paired with the salted egg... it was delightful. The rice balls were okay. I thought they would be chewy like a tapioca/mochi like bounce. Overall, I love going to NaYa for bingsu. I prefer the mango bingsu and highly recommend it if it's your first time there. Their menu selection is great and well worth exploring. They also offer smaller portions of bingsu for some flavors (which is awesome to have that as an option).
Came here with a group of 5 on a Sunday afternoon and it was fairly empty inside so we got seated right away. We ordered a couple items to share and they were all pretty good. Started with the takoyaki, potato croquette, and fried chicken crepe. Given that we were hungry it got the job done but probably wasn't the best. We also got the mango sticky rice bingsoo and salted egg yolk toast. The mango bingsoo was amazing and the warm sticky rice paired so well with it. It's always a 10/10 and definitely recommend getting this item. The salted egg yolk toast was surprisingly my favorite out of all of them! The toast was cut into cubes and covered in the sweet and savory custard sauce. It has a similar taste to the Chinese salted egg custard buns so if you like that you'll definitely like this! Overall a great dessert spot and perfect for any time of day to visit.
SF has some of the best asian dessert cafes around! I've been to the other NaYa location which I loved, and was not surprised that I enjoyed this one a lot as well. It was busy but we got seated immediately, and soon after we saw a wait outside. We got the black thai tea crepe and the salted egg lava cake. I LOVED the salted egg lava cake! The salted egg flavor really came through and the cake itself was so moist and dense and fudgy. We chose to get matcha ice cream instead of vanilla and that was also delicious. The thai tea crepe was good too, but not my favorite. I think the skin was a little too chewy and didn't really pair with the ice cream. I remember the other location having roti which was absolutely delicious - not sure if the menus are different or it just got removed. Nonetheless, this is a great spot to get your asian dessert fix in!
NaYa continues to be one of my favorite dessert cafes in the city! This is my third time at NaYa, and they never fail to impress me with how tasty everything on their menu is. I have had their savory AND sweet dishes, and both hit the mark every time. This time around, I brought my out-of-towners to NaYa to seek some refuge from the rain and have some tasty desserts. We did have to wait a little before being seated, but I did only notice there was only one staff member working the tables. We ordered the NaYa Toasted and The Black Thai Tea crepe. The NaYa Toasted is always a good, safe choice if you are on the fence of what to get. The bread is warm, buttery and soft, a perfect vessel for the pandan custard sauce. The vanilla ice cream is the perfect contrast to the warm bread, and provides a creaminess to the dessert. The Black Thai tea Crepe also blew me away: I loved how flavorful the Thai tea ice cream was in the middle and the Gold Egg Yolk Threads on top was my favorite part! These treads were so fragrant and paired with the ice cream nicely. The crepe was a little tough and hard to cut into, so this is different one of the messier desserts.
Mango Tango was good! Although the mango was so nicely presented, so wish it was simply cut/diced up and served in a bowl, as it made for a difficult experience eating the mango without getting hands or corners of your mouth dirty. The sticky rice that came with the bingsu was SO wonderfully flavored and served at the perfect temperature when it first came out. Absolutely give it a try!
SO YUMMY!! Highly recommend the salted egg bingsu special, if it is available! What a perfect combo of sweet & savory. Everything I tried was perfection -- not too sweet, and solid portion size for sharing while also getting to try multiple items. Seating is a bit cramped inside but the desserts make it totally worth it.
Had an AMAZING dessert experience here! I've been avoiding sugar and desserts for a while, so going in I was nervous that the desserts would taste too sweet to me. I shared the salted egg toast with another person and the portion was more than enough for the two of us! We also substituted the vanilla ice cream for the coconut flavor, which we thought complemented the salted egg flavors really well. There were so many other interesting looking menu items they had, but I loved this dessert so much that I know I'll be ordering the same exact thing next time I'm here. Really cute, cozy cafe and convenient location in the middle of Hayes Valley. Great service, but we did have to wait a bit to get seated pretty late on a Saturday night.
We were looking for a dessert spot with appetizers available, and NaYa checked our boxes! It's a cute dessert spot in Hayes Valley. Lots of seating inside, and a good selection of desserts available too. We tried a selection of items: + Takoyaki (3.5/5): A little mushy for my liking, but it tasted fairly standard and as you'd expect from a takoyaki. + Kaya Toasted (4/5): Comes with pandan kaya sauce, young coconut, banana, almond, and vanilla ice cream! The crispy toast was delicious, and I loved how vibrant the kaya sauce tasted. + Mango Sticky Rice Crepe (4.5/5): Fav out of the 3 things we ordered! Comes with fresh mango, sweet sticky rice, fresh mango sauce, toasted almond, sesame, coconut ice cream, and coconut sauce. I thought the sticky rice tasted great, and the crepe was light. The mango was sweet to my surprise (being that it's the winter). Overall, the desserts here didn't quite knock itself out of the park but I thought the variety of items they had was pretty impressive. Service was okay, but our items came out quickly.
